Club Policies

Drug and Alcohol Policy

In order for the North Texas Region to support any sanctions put on by the club, one of these two below procedures must take place. If at any time a player is in the possession of or involved with any type of illegal drugs or alcohol, they will be given two options.

  • Option One: Go immediately to a clinic and have a drug test assessed
  • Option Two: The police will be called to do a report.

If the player(s) are found at fault, further action will take place depending on the severity of the issue. The player may be sent home from the event, dismissed for a period of time, or released from the team permanently (at the expense of their parent / guardian).

Prom Policy

We understand the importance of an event such as Prom; therefore, we have implemented the following guidelines to allow SENIORS to attend their SENIOR Prom.

  • The guidelines for attending prom are as follows:
  • Each SENIOR will be allowed to attend their prom if so desired without punishment.
  • They will need to be present the day prior and the day after the (main evening) Prom event
  • They will need to be present the day of the event until 12 noon (if out of town) and 2:00pm (if within the DFW area).

We believe it is not fair to a team that has devoted so many hours into practices only to be disqualified from a tournament or to not be given a chance to qualify for Nationals because a few players are gone.  It is also not fair to those who must be seen by colleges because they don’t have scholarships offers yet.  These guidelines will only apply if it is a National Qualifying tournament that is in conflict with prom

Tournament Information

Tournament participation is also mandatory because we train as a team, and when someone misses, it affects the whole team. Tournaments give your athlete the chance to compete at higher levels, develop their court skills and knowledge of the game. They also give the athlete a chance to be seen by college scouts.

Tournament agendas, lodging arrangements and other important travel information will be provided to each player as soon as the club directors have received the information from the tournament directors.  We prefer to do most of our communication through e-mail and our website.  We will post hotel and tournament information for your team on the website as soon as it is available.

Playing Time:

The team’s head coach is responsible for the composition of the team and determining playing time. We cannot and will not guarantee playing time to anyone. It is in the best interest of the team that we compete for championships, and this may include some players not playing in some matches. The head coaches will make their decisions based on a player's attendance at practices, the importance of an event, attitude, and most of all, the team's needs. As parents, please understand that we as coaches will do our best do get everyone playing time, but our main focus at tournaments is the team's success. We will do our best to get your athlete the best training in the practice sessions and clinics, but we cannot guarantee playing time at tournaments to anyone.  If you feel you must discuss your child’s playing time with a coach we ask that this NOT BE DONE AT THE TOURNAMENT.  Several times we have seen games lost because a coach lost their objectivity as a result of a discussion with a parent influencing their decisions.  Please save these discussions until after the tournament.  Having coached for several years, we can promise you that your coach will be thinking about your daughter.

Tournament Transportation:

The club will not provide transportation to any tournaments. It is the parent's responsibility to find transportation for their athletes to and from all events.  For out of state air-travel tournaments, we will be staying next to the convention center(s) and able to walk to the tournament and to malls, food, etc.  Airfare is not included in Player dues, nor coordinated through 900VB.  For the 2008-09 Season parents will be responsible for booking and purchasing their daughter's airline ticket adn coordinating transportation to get her to the hotel.  In the past we did group bookings so team's can travel together, however when flights are cancelled, it meant entire team's missing a tournament.  So this year, use your airmiles, search on travelocity, and find a great deal!  Players are to report to the Team hotel by 10pm the night before the tournament begins and will need to leave after 5pm to ensure they are able to play in the final matches of the tournament (normally 2-3pm).  We are now paying for a Chaperone's Hotel room (for each team) - so all players need to inform the assigned chaperone of your arrival and departure times.

Hotel Accommodations:

We will distribute the hotel information for parents in advance on the web page or by email so that you will be allowed to make reservations at the same hotel where the teams are staying. Each team will have a certain number of rooms reserved for the players (except for 13’s). In an effort to keep costs lower,  900 13’s will stay with their parents. We cannot guarantee space or make reservations for parents; therefore it is your responsibility to make plans for your stay.  We will ask hotels to hold rooms for parents until a specified date.  If you have not made a reservation by that date we cannot hold the room.  Player Hotel rooms are included in Player dues (Except 13s).  We are now paying for a Chaperone's hotel room (for each team).

Chaperones:

We are now paying for one Chaperone's hotel room (per team) - Chaperones will be responsible for all player's when they are not at the playing site, including coordinating and chaperoning all team events for the entire weekend.
