900.15.1 Braasch Twins on PrepVolleyball.com Minimize

Braasch Twins

Twin Killing

Identical twins Sydney and Kiersten Braasch, who play for the 900 Volleyball Club 15-1 team and 692 Beach in Bedford, Texas, are simultaneously similar and decidedly different.

“They get along great, but also like to do their own thing,” coach Meredith Grady said.

Among the many things the Braasch’s share on the court is the fact that they are simply unstoppable.

“They read each other very well and feed off of each other’s energy on the court,” Grady said. “Kiersten connects well when Sydney is setting, and Sydney knows how Kiersten likes to be set. They are both extremely quick which makes them great hustlers on the court.

“Both of them also have amazing verticals; which helps Sydney save lots of balls out of the net as a setter and Kiersten is able to hit high over the block. They both have great court awareness and are very controlled players. They do not make a lot of mistakes.”

On the beach, Kiersten plays left and Sydney plays right. Last year at Beach Nationals, the Braasch’s defeated the team that was featured on the cover of Volleyball magazine for having the longest winning streak.

“They are one dynamic duo,” Grady said.

900.15.1 - 5th in OPEN
MVP - Ashley Prince - She has been improving all season long and has been a big reason for our success lately. She is a huge offensive threat at the net and has been making smart decisions.  She has been one of our "go to" hitters in serve recieve and puts away ~80% of her attacks on the 1st attempt for a quick side-out. She lead our team in kills against TAV Asics (we took them to 3 games and lost 15-11 in the 3rd). Multiple parents from various teams and coaches came up to me later and said how great our team is doing. Ashley is one of our top kill leaders in almost every game. Way to go Ashley...she is steadily improving with each tournament. (Julie)
 900.14.1 - Tournament Champions (CLUB)
MVP - The Entire 14.1 Team - I will like to nominate my entire team.  The team's goal for this tournament was Tournament Champions.  The team accomplished their goal by playing as a unit on the court and on the sidelines. Congratulations to them on accomplishing their goal.
900.14.2 - 5th in CLUB
MVP - Allie King Despite coming off of a shoulder injury that sidelined her for 6 weeks, she led our team to a 5th place finish in the Gold Division.  Allie was unstoppable, posting a .538 hitting percentage for the entire tournament.  Her physical presence on the court was obvious, but her leadership was a much stronger force.  We are glad to have her back!

She lead the team the entire tournament with her passing and defensive efforts. Allison kept the team's intensity up and the team positive. She is a real motivator on the court and does a great job of leading the team vocally and with her actions. She was all over the backcourt and demonstrated a lot of heart during close matches. Good job Allison!

900 Early Bird MVP - 14.1 Allison Bond! Print   Minimize

Allison is our tournament MVP, as a Libero. Defense being the most important aspect of winning a game Allison stepped up to the challenge. Allison maintains a sense of humility while being a dominantly competitive player on the court. Welcomes challenge as a step to progression and absorbs coaching with upmost respect. She is dedicated to advancing her game to the next level, through hard work before, during and after practice and exhibits it in competition. The entire tournament our opponent was unable to get a kill in the middle back defense area and she was able to even get tips running from back baseline to help out teammates. Great Job Allison!!! - Thomas
